Welcome to the T.I.E. Institute!

Our Mission

To design, support, and scale teacher-initiated solutions that strengthen instruction, restore professional trust, and re-center educators at the heart of education—our design is guided by research, replicable, practice-based solutions created by educators, tested in real school buildings and classrooms, and refined through structured student feedback. The Teacher Initiated Education Institute (T.I.E. Institute) designs, studies, and supports teacher-initiated, evidence-informed models that strengthen instructional practice, cultivate professional trust, and restore educators to the center of educational improvement.

Our work is grounded in established research in instructional design, professional collaboration, psychological safety, and school climate. Each model is developed through structured field implementation in authentic school settings and iteratively refined through systematic feedback, program evaluation, and practitioner reflection.

We believe that sustainable school improvement emerges when educators are not passive recipients of reform, but active designers of it.

Our Models & Programs

The Teacher Café™ Model

The Teacher Café™ Model is an evidence-informed professional community framework designed to cultivate restoration, collegial trust, and voluntary professional collaboration within school settings.

The model transforms shared spaces into structured professional commons that:

  • Promote restoration and professional renewal

  • Strengthen collegial interaction and belonging

  • Reduce professional isolation

  • Support positive school culture

  • Preserve voluntary, non-evaluative participation

Teacher Café™ creates protected conditions for informal yet purposeful professional dialogue, reflective exchange, and peer-generated problem solving. Its design prioritizes psychological safety and autonomy, ensuring that participation remains free from evaluation, mandate, or administrative obligation.

The model has been implemented in K–12 school contexts and refined through structured program evaluation. Ongoing research seeks to examine its impact on educator well-being, professional collaboration, and school climate using formal research design and ethical review processes.

Implementation is supported through school-level or district-level licensing, which authorizes use of the Teacher Café™ framework, materials, and implementation guidance while preserving fidelity to its voluntary and trust-centered design.

Script-to-Scaffold™ Instructional Strategy

Script-to-Scaffold™ is a structured instructional framework designed to strengthen student discourse, engagement, and conceptual understanding through guided dialogue, role-play, gradual release, and purposeful rehearsal.

Aligned with principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Script-to-Scaffold™ provides differentiated access to content by offering:

  • Structured language supports

  • Scaffolded interpersonal interaction

  • Explicit vocabulary integration

  • Multiple modes of representation and expression

The strategy emphasizes teacher-designed scaffolding and disciplined instructional sequencing. It integrates responsible, educator-guided use of artificial intelligence as a preparation and accessibility support tool — without replacing professional judgment or authentic student communication.

Script-to-Scaffold™ has been field-tested in secondary classrooms and refined through iterative pilot implementation. Ongoing research examines its impact on student engagement, comprehension, and academic confidence.
